Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a w140 transmission?

My friend owns a 97 s420, and he needs a transmission?

I'm not sure what you mean by good deal, what's your price range? My Brother just had his tranny rebuild by AAMCO with a life time warranty for $2875.00, a new one will cost a lot more.

I think here are no "new" trasmissions even at the MB parts department for W140---they are all rebuilt.

Thanks guys.

I am not looking for a new tranny, a rebuilt one. What i meant by a good deal, is that i dont want to get ripped off or over charged for it.

I usually buy my car parts from online, and i get them at nearly 30-50% at what your local dealer would charge for them, but these internet car parts dont sell whole rebuilt transmissions.

Someone mentioned to me, that it could be less expensive to actually rebuild the transmission in the car, rather then buying a rebuilt one.

Any ideas?

i will check aamco lead i got.
