Tranny problems?

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum and would like to say that I am glad to be here. My problem is with the shifting of my 1992 500 sel. The problem is when I come to a dead stop (stop sign, red light ect.) the transmission seems to drag and rev at a very high speed before shifting to the next gear. After the first shift, the shifting is much more smoother. At highway speeds, the shifting is also pretty smoooth, except when I push down on the gas very quickly than the car sort of jolts and doesn't seem to know what gear to shift into.
I was told that it maybe the shifter linkage that needs to be adjusted. Does anyone have any advice. thanks

I would have the linkage inspected/adjusted as well as check to see if the transmission is getting proper vacuum. When was the fluid and filter done last? If you want these boxes to last it really should be done every 15-20,000 miles.

The transmission filter and fluid were changed when my transmission pump when bad a little over a year ago. The pump was replaced along with the seals.
I honestly don't drive the car that much I only put about 1,500 miles on the car in the past year. Thanks I'll get the linkage checked out and go from there.
