Look at the maintenance records if possible. Try all the switches (Mirrors, folding mirrors, seat switches, windows, soft close doors and trunk, heated seats, seat movement, radio volume control,etc.). Test drive listen to transmission shifts should be quiet, suspension noises no clunks, etc. Lights interior and exterior. Body panels and underside for rust. You are inspecting a 24 year old car so a PPI should be where you start.

Hey, You're in KS. Check out Hoovie's Garage and his mechanic The Wizard on YouTube. He has lots of experience with old M-B. The Wizard has his own channel, too. I think they're located in the Wichita area, though.

Thanks. I am a subscribed reader of Hoovie’s on YouTube and The Wizard. They’re about 150 miles from my base in Overland Park, KS, but the car I’m considering is in California. I’ll likely get an inspection from a Mercedes dealership before buying this & see where it takes me. Thanks for the help.
