1995 S320: Rear Passenger Vents

The rear passenger vent that is in between the front two seats is only blowing cold air when the heat is on. Could this be a fuse issue? Any suggestions?

Suggestions. Duo-valve issue or vacuum flap issue.

The duo-valve regulates the amount of coolant circulating through the heater core. If it's stuck, no hot coolant gets to the heater core. Known problem. I would start here. Perhaps the solenoid for this valve is on a fused circuit. Check your owner's manual and the fuse box label.

Vacuum is used to actuate flaps that direct air to the various ducts. Perhaps the flap for the heat to the rear isn't doing its thing.

That vent only supplies fresh or cooled air. It can be closed useing the lever on the face of it.
If you are getting heated air out of the floor ducts the duo-valve is working. The 600 sedan and coupe have heat capability with an entire heater /ac core in the consloe which is individually controlled from the rear seat!

I have a 1996 doing the same thing but in the front as well

It just doesn't seem like it gets very hot. I had a 1986 420SEL and that cranked out lots of heat. I just got this car (that is the same color as yours) and I can have it set to 78 and it is warm, but it doesn't feel like 78. It feels more like 67. When you find out let me know.

heat

I have occasionaly wondered if the temperature control was as hot as it should be as it never feels realy hot.
Recently I was waiting at a ferry terminal to return to Vancouver from Vancouver Island. It was a major rain storm, the window was fogged up as I had to wait 41/2 hr. for the ferry. When it was time to load I pushed the defrost button on the dash, I had never touched this button before. The heat that came out on to the winchield was blazing hot, there was no fooling arround, the window dried right off right now!
So I now realise the auto temperature control is there to keep you comfortable not hot/over heated.
