Question stock W140 rubber spring pad thickness??

hey guys,

I know mercedes benz uses the rubber spring pad system on many of their cars including the W140 (which the spring sits on top of). the rubber spring pads range from 23mm to 8mm thick. I plan on installing the eibach springs for my 300se but i also want to go ahead and drop down to the lowest spring pad height as well to give it that extra drop while still not effecting soft ride. does anyone know the W140 spring pad thickness?

there is no such trhing as 'std' thickness - it will be different for each car

1 'blob' marking on the side of the pad = 8mm, 2 = 13mm, 3 = 18mm and 4 = 23mm

HOWEVER...

if your VIN numer is-
140.032 - 53 points
033 - 53
043 - 58
051 - 69
057 - 93
134 - 55

PLUS -
Adaptive suspension - 3 point
ASR - 1 point

add this lot up - for your car - and i can tell you which pad is installed - im not going to type up all the pages of numbers tbh..

hmm i see so every W140 has different pads. well I think if i don't already have 8mm pads I will go ahead and get them. The dealer should be able to help me out with this one. are the pads all the same size just different thickness or does each body style have its on sets of pads?

ok - for a 8mm you need 140 321 06 84

if that turns out too small try 140 321 07 84 (13mm)

they are in the order of 10 dollars each

rear:-
140 325 01 54 (8mm)
140 325 02 84 (13mm)

how could a pad be too small? is there any real negative effect to going to a thinner pad? im definately willing to pay $10 a pad if its willing to give me that extra drop.

if - just for arguments sake - you had (as std) max thickness at the back, and mid range at the front - then by going to min all the way round would drop the back more than the front - making it look silly.

unlikely - but hey, just trying to help. I'd check what you have at the moment - aparantly the blobs making how thick they are are quite easy to see.. but YMMV..
