Best Oil to Use in the Winter in the Northeast

Hi guys!

I have a 1992 500 SEL and I am preparing my car for the winter months coming up in the Northeass(Connecticut) tires, antifreeze, windshield wiper fluid, but would like to know what motor oil is best. I currently use Mobil 1 15W50(awesome oil) for these cars. Is it sensible to use this type of oil in the winter?

I use Mobil 1 0w40 all the time in my 95 S600 Coupe.

Motor Oil

I would change the viscosity to 10w30. This temp range will cover temps between -4 to 50 degrees. Not sure exactly what your temperatures are like during your winter months but if you dip below zero i would change. Also check your owners manual for additional advice

0W40 is a good recommendation. I'd say 15W50 is too viscous for New England winter.

I would not use 10w30. Mercedes no longer recommends the Mobil 1 5w30 or 10w30 oils. My understanding is that they are not true synthetics.
