1995 S420
Radio Code from Dealer does not work

The radio code that the MB dealer provides (21112) does not work.
It just goes to WAIT and then you have to wait for it to reset.
Has anyone else experienced their code not working?
Only seems to be one way to enter it.
Confirmed with the dealer that was doing it properly.
Last chance before I take it for a new stereo.
I prefer my cars original and do not want to do this.
Any help appreciated.
