Will the SL's 18's fit the '00 S??? Please help!
Two questions, would greatly appreciate your response, guys. I posted this in the tire forum but nobody has responded and I needed a quick response. THANKS!!!
1: I have a 2000 S class, and was wondering if the new SL rims would fit. They are the turbine style, and I think they come with the AMG kit. They are 255/40 ZR 18 in the front and 285/35 ZR 18s in the back. Would they fit my S-class? Any problems I might face?
2: Also, a buddy of mine was wondering if he can put the tires from the above rims and put them on his S-class AMG package rims (the 18's)... I think they have 265's in the back and are also skinnier in front (the sport package ones for the 2000 s class), so it wouldnt be a perfect match, but you guys know more.
Please respond!!! Thanks.

Hi
Although the SL Offset is different ,I think the Rims still can be used.
The Offset of the SL is 30 on the front and 33 on the rear Rims, and the Rims should be 8.5 and 9.5 inches wide( the same as for the S class in width)
It means the Rims will stand 14mm(front) & 13mm( rear)or about just around a half inch outer than the original S class AMG's. With the S class Tyres ( 275/40 , 245/55) I'm 99,9% sure that it will not.
With the SL Tyres on ,the gap between the Tyre and the Fender will be a little more , because those Tyres are a bit thinner ( 245/45= 11.025cm 255/40=10.2cm , so 0.8 mm or about a 1/3 inch more gap), but I'm also 99.9% sure that they will not rub.
I used 9.5x20" Rims with 255/35 Tyres on my friend's S class with 38mm Offset and there wasn't any rubbing, although the overall height of the Rim+Tyre is 3cm or 1 and 1/4 inch heigher than the 18's with 255, and the width of it was exactly the same ( or a bit more ,because a 255 Tyre on a 9.5 " rim is not the same as on a 8.5" Rim)
Have a Try

Funny you are asking this.
THESE WILL NOT FIT!!!!!
Believe me, I tried it and now am out $1500 the offset will cause the wheels to rub on the rear fenders.
Hope this helps.
