Sat Nav - Teleatlas upgrade (UK only)

I am thinking about upgrading my Sat nav CD by Teleatlas to a current version. I have been on their website and obtained what I think I need but thought to check with members of this forum if they think it is correct.

I followed the procedure to get to this version but wondered if anyone had experience of upgrading their S Class Sat Nav from '00 to current.

Thanks

Hi there,

I've done the same thing recently, there is something to be aware of. The early s class had a non-DX type disc, and slightly later ones had a DX disc.

If you are not sure whether you have a DX or a non-DX system, take out the sat-nav disk from the car and if it says DX, you have a DX system.

Link for non-DX:

Link for DX:

Hope this helps

Thanks for reply.

Would you say paying £90+ is worth it for the upgrade. Reading the reviews, it seems to have more features. Can you list what you notice as updates, apart from newer roads existing obviously.

With or without DX, what difference would this make?

Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Apart from the new roads, the 2005 disc has the option of using a postcode area in london. For example if I wanted an area in ilford, I could put in IG11 and then search a road name. The new disc also has more points of interest (airports, railway stations and petrol stations etc.)

Non DX discs do not have the capability of using the Mercedes TMC system. On the DX discs, the more expensive version (approx £115) has it. In my experience its not worth having, as it only works on motorways, and you have to listen to classic fm!

The new disc also contains toll roads like the new M6

hope this helps

Sorry to be thick...

but I seem to have the non-DX type of system.

If I were to put the DX system disc into my SAT-NAV would it still work but without the DX additions or not work at all.

E-bay seems to only sell DX types.

Thanks in advance
