warranty on catalytic converter.
Hi all I had recieved a letter from mercedes benz stating that the cat's warranty has changed from 8 years 80,000 miles to 10 years any mileage. Now I lost the letter and the mercedes benz dealer that I deal with says that if I bring them the letter they will honor it, but until then it is still 8 years 80,000 miles. Pleases let me know if anyone else got this letter or how can I get benz to send me a new letter
. Thanks.

So lucky..
because here in the UK, you get no catalytic convertor warranty outside of the standard 3 years manufacturers warranty.
Both of my cats went (very noisy and apparently blocked) and these cost me £1500.00 fitted....
Sounds and runs sweet now though!

You shouldn't need that letter. Verify with the dealer first before bringing your car in and clearly state the catalytic converter problem.
Why should the dealer honor this with the letter? Isn't this a corporate dealing, not not like it's a hush hush or fountain of youth secrecy???
I brought the car in roughly 2 months for the catalytic converter problem. It was the right side and fortunately was covered under warranty in the Emission Warranty.
01 s500 with only 25k miles, thank goodness for the warranty. Otherwise it would've been an arm and 2 legs

A cheaper and better solution (IMO) is to get aftermarket cats from www.evosport.com and have them replaced and welded on by a shop that does exhausts.
Should cost less than buying OEMs from the stealership and also sound meaner.
