Hi all, I am going to buy next month a 2001 S500. I own 1997 E-420 for long time and very happy with it.

I was thinking to by 2002 E55, but my deal could not go through.

Now is the time to add W220 to my collection.

Due to my tight budget [$30000] I am going to buy 2001 S500 with about 65-75K miles on it.

The car will be of the MB lease. So I am hoping that it will be better car. Also car will be California car, so I don't need to worry about rust. I am buying car from HILINE Dealer only Auction in Riverside, California. Most of the car in this auction are lease return car.

May I get your feed back on 2001 S500. If you all can give me some feed back on any thing that I should be worry about will be greatly appreciated.

Just for outside look is it possible to update head lights to clear style like 2003. I know 2001 S500 comes with Xenon lights, but they are not clear like 2003. I know the tail light are very easy to swap to 2003 look.

I have a White 500 sport. The pic is in the pic thread. private message me if you are interested. White with black interior. It is sort of hard to find a sport package and they are around 1500 higher than regular. Trust me its worth it.. The car looks so much better. Also, you couldn't add the bumpers and sideskirts for any less than 1500.

01 are much better than 00. they have more of the bugs (not all) worked out. Mine was purchased from mbenz credit in ATL. No rust.. not very common until you get to indiana or ohio.

It costs about 600 to get it shipped to you.
