s500 with amg package
i dont know much about mb's but as i mentioned in another post, i have bought by first '00 s500. can soneone please explain to me the difference between an s55 AMG and a S500 with an amg sport package. or is there such an animal?

The AMG Sports Package is simply body work modifications and rims. (At least in North America).
So if you have a S500 bone stock, versus a S500 with the AMG Sport Package, the only difference is visual. That's it, no engine upgrades, no interior appointments, nothing else.
Now if you have the S55, you get a different engine, parts of the interior are different, and you get the AMG body work and wheels standard.
There is another 'package' codenamed 030 which is called the Performance Package on a few of the Mercedes Models. It adds a different style of bodywork and rims, adds lighter brakes, and some other things as well.
Do you know if your S500 has a sport package or not? If not, have you thought about getting a bodykit for your car?

ricky, thanks for the response. yes, im thinking about a body kit and have searched the internet. i have found a couple but i am not sure of what to get. what kits are available? as for rims, i like the amg rims that i believe come with the s65. its the dual spoke 19 rims. oh, i dont know if my s500 has a sport package or not. i already ordered tail light upgrade im im going to order the 2003 headlights as i think they look nicer. i also ordered the flat hood emblem.

Off the top of my head I can recall Lorinser, Brabus, Carlsson and RENNtech who offer body kits.
For rims, your options are literally endless.
I suggest you talk to EuroTeck Motorsports or Evosport to get a gauge of what they offer, as well as pricing. Some of the rims range from a grand plus change, to ten grand.. plus change!

thanks for the info. i will be looking at their site for a body kit. i really like the dual spoke amg wheels. would it be considered sacrilegious to go with a body kit from let say Lorinser and put on amg wheels? i know its a matter of personal taste but i also dont want people looking at the car and saying "look at that fool with amg wheels and a RENNtech body kit.
