DIY brake job on 2000 S430

Hello all,

I am about to order a set of brake pads for my 2000 S430, but I figured I'd check this site out first. I did an extensive search of the forum, but came up empty handed. I just wanted to know, is there anything I should be aware of when doing a brake job on this car? Is it significantly different than any other car? I have done several brake pad/rotor replacements on many different cars, but I know MB can be quite tricky. Also, do you think I will need new rotors? The car has 44,000 miles and the "Brake Lining Wear" notification is displayed in the dash. I appreciate any advice.

Rotors

You should not need rotors with that low mileage...I would shop around for the pads but would buy OEM pad sensors. It's an easy job, esp. if you have done brakes before. Resurfacing the rotor surface is up to you. There's plenty of brake posts on this forum, my experience you have to keep your queries very generic and you'll get more hits that way. You can search my early posts and see the comments made by myself and others.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I figure that because I have done countless brake pad replacements, I shouldn't have a problem with this one. I just thought that I'd ask first to be sure there wasn't any crazy computer system to watch out for.

And regarding the search, I did actually find some results prior to making this thread, but I didn't find anything specific as to replacing the brake pads on a W220 and what is involved in it. Thanks again!
