Smart or stupid?
It's a cheap method for sure.
Basically, my airbox gets really hot after drives. I'm thinking about coating parts of the tube and airbox with aluminum foil. I believe that reflects heat and does it pretty well? Maybe cool some of that hot air the engine is sucking in. What do you think?

not simple foil, but insulating foil, right? though there is part of my brain
which thinks the benefits are small...though better than none at all.
may be more rewards in locating the point of induction to cooler air
source as well?

I wouldn't waste my time with something like that. Testing theories on a top model Benz...not the best way to go.

You might try some of that heat insulating material that they sell in speed shops. You could get the smallest sheet that they sell and cut it up and cver the box...I think you might do better by finding a way to direct more cool air to the underhood area.
