New Member - Dealer Incentive Help

All,
I am looking to purchase my first Mercedes, a 2006 S430. The dealer mentioned that he would reduce the sticker price by his $12,000 dealer incentive. I understand that the 2006 S500 has a $16,000 dealer inecentive.

Can anyone verify these numbers? Are they accurate?

Thank you

$12,000 is not enough. This past November I got my 2006 S430 with a MSRP of $83,669 for $17,000 off. After the deal closed I was informed that the manager who made the deal made a $3,000 mistake in my favor. I don't know if that was true but when I did the math they were below dealer cost, into the holdback but still made a little money. I think even at that time the S500 had $3,000 more factory to dealer incentive (trunk money).

Now the S430 is supposed to have $7,000 in the trunk and the S500, $10,000. On identially equipped cars the price difference is still about $8,000 leaving an actual $5,000 price difference. I would think four months later you should be able to get close to what I got, all the trunk money plus a hugh discount from MSRP, even assuming the $3,000 error was not BS. Both cars dealer cost is MSRP minus the freight times .93 then add back the freight. Please post how you come out.

pre-negotiation pricing

I go in tomorrow to test drive the s430. The MSRP is $81,400 . Using your formula:

$81,400 MSRP
- 750 (freight)
-----------
$80,650 (MSRP less freight)
.93
----------
$75,005

Their quote is $69,400. It looks as though they are giving up some of the trunk money.

I will let you know how it goes.
