Hi everyone i want to know all that i can do to my mercedes s500. its a 2000 model so its w220. I want to upgrade it and make it look as best as it can. I will be posting pictures of what it currently looks like so people can tell me what are the best things to do. the car is pretty stock except for the led i changed recently. I am kinda new to all the upgrading, I'd appreciate it if all the experts here could help me out a bit.

Things to make it look "newer" are:
-swap the tail lights to the new design (no adapations needed)
-get the clear lense Bi Xenon or H7 headlights (some minor electrical changes required, depends what lights are currently built in)
-Get the new design Comand 16:9 format. (needs major adaptations to work properly)
-The later grille design has changed, but therefore you also need the newly designed front bumper.
This will all still be stock design of the newer model 2003 and later.

Rime, tires, body kit, Rennteck chip, stainless steel exhaust. The engine mods will give you 100HP and 130 ft lb of tq.

First things first!!! Update headlights and tailights.. and take it from there. It makes a world of a difference.. then rims and a good detailing job..

that site only has tail lights and side LEDS iv already done the LEDS and iv ordered the tail lights from ebay...any other links??

I'm no expert, but I got tired of my car and was looking at the S550s. After a lot of looking I got on this forum and saw what was possible vis-a-vis my old S and called The Tire Rack. I went from my OEM wheels and tires to 18x8.5 AMG Double Spoke Bright Sil, front, and 18x9 AMG Double Spoke Bright Sil, back, w/ 245/45WR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 XL, front, and 275/40YR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, back. It was like getting a new car for $110k less. The only other things I did were to replace the steering wheel and shift knob w/ burl walnut, and a minor tweak, replaced the front side running light lenses w/ clear ones.

I am not going to lie, leave it the way it is, it looks great, you just bring your car down if you are trying to make it look like something it isn't. The most I would do is put some nice rims on it, thats about it. It looks CLEAN

Make it a sleeper. These stock 16s are perfect sleeper wheels.

Car that is a actually lot faster/capable than it looks. In this case, it involves swapping the motor with a 55k motor or the equivalent.

Got an extra $20k handy?

I made all of my "mods" for less than $4k. And the wheels make the car look new after six years as my daily driver. That small investment uped the value of my car by at least $10k!

can u swap the engines from a 2007 s500 into a 2000 s500 and would the ride even be the same?

Forget about swapping any engines.. It will cost you like $16- 20 K that's almost as much as you paid for the car.

First,
Steve Krabbenborg is coming to Chicago this July. Contact him and make a road trip to Chicago to install the upgraded headlights and tailights.. and even the turn signals..

Second, RIms.. get rims that you like either 19 or 20" staggered this means the rim is larger in the back and has a nice look my setup on the way is =(front 20x8.5 and rear 20x9.5)

Once you do these two things the car looks just like a 2003 and up.. then you decide what you want from there..

It's an S-Class, I don't think there's any poser factor in trying to clean it up a bit. I think it's fun to keep up with the facelifts. In this case, I would definitely get the new (clear) xenons. I know particularly with darker cars that the clear xenons really bring out the chrome in the grille and whatnot. Glad to hear you are getting the new tail lights. If you do the xenons, get the clear turn signals to match. After that I would probably ditch the 16s. I really like the replica Brabus S's that I've seen on a couple cars on this board. There are plenty of ideas out there, many of them using OEM parts. Don't care what the others think, just choose parts that look good to you and have fun with the installs (they're fun projects, its great to try an install, run into trouble and then have a lightbulb moment).

Not $10k, not at all. lol

I personally, although they don't look bad at all, don't want the MY2003+ facelifts. The grey headlights make the car look more subtle. And 20 years down the road, they'll look more old school.

I'm going to lower the car further over the summer, tint it, and work on the motor a bit. Air filters, pulley set, different plugs, maybe wires and chip too.
