Who here has done an oil change?

Did a search, most of the topics were on other models, so I wasn't sure if its the same for all the Benzes.

Someone told me filter removal on the Benz is somewhat more difficult than removing a conventional filter or something? If someone has done it, can you write up the steps? Thanks.

Newton, it's very easy to do this. If you choose to get under the car, you first remove the black plastic skid plate from under you car to gain access to the oil drain plug. Just open the plug and let the oil drain out. While the oil is draining you can start on dressing your oil filter. It sits right at the very top. The filter comes with four o-rings that are dressed around the filter shaft. Once you remove the filter you will see what i'm talking about. Remove all 4 o-rings then remove the old filter from shaft. Insert new filter then get the new o-rings and apply a liberal amount of oil around them before installing these o-rings. Re-insert the filter shaft back in place, close the drain plug then just pour in the new oil (Mobile1 0W40 8.5 qts of it).

If you choose to not get under the car, you can get the liquid vac that is commonly used to drain the oil from the dip stick. Just stic the tiny tube through the dip stick opening and let the vac do it's job.

Total time would be about 20 min or less.

Thanks Ken, yeah, I always change the oil under the car.

Do you just buy the oil and filter from the dealer?

Buy the filter from dealer ($17) and buy the oil from any car parts store.
