I'm thinking of purchasing a Sirius satellite radio receiver for use in both my 2003 S 430 and at home. Has anybody tried to integrate a satellite receiver in an S class and if so does the receiver work inside of the Benz without an external antenna. I know that the S has a special coating on its front windshield and am wondering if it would block any of the satellite signals. I believe the antenna's that come with the car kits are to be put on the dashboard. It would be nice if there would be some way to integrate the receiver to use the GPS antenna already on the S class somehow.
Thanks,
Ron

What kind of tuner are you trying to integrate? Is is going to be hard wired and all info to be displayed on command? The best way to get sat radio either way is to have an antenna outside of the car for clear reception. I have a stand alone Roady 2 with the antenna outside the rear window and using the aux input for audio. Works great, reception and sound is better than FM and it looks neat and simple. Since it's a stand alone unit, I can take it out and plug it in my house for in home use.
This is my install:

It would be a portable receiver, not integrated with COMAND. I believe only model years 04 and up support full integration. The integration pics look great. Did you perform the install yourself or did the dealer provide you with assistance. It looks very clean. How did you get the antenna and wiring up on the roof?
