Navigation system problems

Guys,

I recently purchased 2001 S500. Everything works except the Navigation system. When I touch the Navigation button, it says that the "Navigation System is off". I didn't have a set of Navigation CDs, so I took it to the dealership.

At the dealership, they tried using a set of Navigation CDS and it didn't work. Now I am hearing that I might need a certain code to turn it on.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks,
ECapenter

w/o Cd's Navigagtion won't work at all. For the 2001 as my information goes you can only use the so called DX CD's. No DVD will work.

They type of CD you need is determined by the type of nav system you have - C or D. Since you have an '01 it is likely a D system. The discs for one won't work with the other, and bamberger 1 is right - it won't work at all without CDs.

You can check for certain with this procedure: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...&highlight=Nav

Some later nav systems used DX discs as bamberger 1 said. Your dealer will have to actually do some research, but should be able to get the right discs for you. If they order any, be sure you can return them if they aren't the right type.

If all else fails, try http://www.continentalimports.com/nav_maps.html

NAVTEK Disk 4

Hey Guys. I just recently got my new Navi system disks (11/05) and they are all working accept the #4 South central USA region. I was informed by Mercedez Benz that there is a problem with the disk.

This sent me the new disk, but it does not work either. Does anyone no if this could be a disk problem or my Navigation system? All the other disks work.

thanks,
ECarpenter

Sky: What is the difference between those Blaupunkt NAV CDs you list and the ones made by NAVTEQ, which I believe are the OEM CDs?

I don't believe it is possible to switch your NAV to the larger and/or Euro style NAVs.

First I have heard of that! Hard to believe thought since there are thousands of users in that region and no one has mentioned it here. Could it be your NAV system? Since you say you have the 11/05 it must be from NAVTEQ. Try calling them and see what they say. navteq.com, I believe.
