retro 01 command with new wide screen command possible?

my gf have an 2000, or 2001 (not sure) but the nav. screen is pathetically small, she wants to have the wide screen like my W211... can this be easilly done by upgrading to the newer w220 command unit?

Step 1: Remove all wiring from car

Step 2: Supply all new wiring and all new modules for all functions

Step 3: Take client to hospital after he gets invoice.

You can add a Euro spec COMAND; Steve@mbenznl can install (see http://www.mbenznl.com/ ). You gain the wide screen and can play DVDs. You lose effective AM tuning. If you have an '01 you keep steering wheel controls; if you have an '00 you may lose them.

Do a little searching for Steve, Big Sis and mbenznl together with COMAND - you'll find a ton of info on what you can do. Steve arranges installation trips to the U.S. periodically.

I'm well aware of steve and his work. But I've never paid for installation for anything b4. Until I got a Benz. Everything is just the opposite of what we're all used to. I'm a big believer of DIY and I don't believe in paying someone to do things for me unless it's a neccassary like mechanics and what not. But audio and stuff are the wants and not the needs. Paying hundreds of dollars to put something in just for a little more feature isn't my cup of tea.

Mercedes are built year specific. They are cutting edge technology and about as DIY as your own personal space station.
