Steering wander, knock when backing up, cracking sound when going over bumps.

Steering wander, knock when backing up, cracking sound when going over bumps.
my car(S430 @ 60k mi) has some steering wander(@ center), knock when backing up, and cracking sound when going over bumps.
It seems to be problems of:
1. Lower ball joints
2. Control arms.
Theright passenger side produces "knock" sound when I back up at parkinglot speed. When I observed the ball joint boots, it felt(by my hand) empty compared to left side.
I also get "cracking & granny joint sound" when I go over the speed bumps.. The mechanic at the dealership said it's the shock absorber, but I don't think so. I suspect the lower ball joint's curpit.
Did many hours of research on the suspected curpits(control arms & lower ball joints) ..
How do you guys think about my symptoms? Please help!
