S 600 top speed

Might be tricky here.....even if car is limited to the 155mph.... if the car is NOT equipped with sports package, it might have the 17" All season tires.... which i believe are H Rated? That rating indicates it isnt meant for higher than 130mph driving.
With the sports package, the car is either equipped with Y rated or even Z rated, the latter ok up to 189mph
But, to your question, I think the S600 is limited to 155mph, with or without sports package.

Guys does anyone have an s600 without the sports package that has gone over 130mph in the US. My friend owns an 05 S600 with the sport package and he said in his owner's manual it says all non sport s600 are 130mph. Is the owner's manual wrong? Thank you very much guys I am trying to figure out as I would hate to get a non sport s600 with 493! and be limited to 130mph. I mean my clk 430 will do 140+- how could they make the 600 limited at 130.

Not sure about '05 but '03 and '04 S/CL 600s were all limited to 130 mph,AMG pkge or not.(US market)
Anyone who claims otherwise is mistaken.

To my best understanding...a USA destined car can be ordered with the "030" option which moves the speed limiter up to 186 MPH...otherwise non-sport package cars are limited to 130 due to the all season tire "H" rating. The AMG and sport package cars limit at 155. This is a German Manufacturer's agreement.
The Scotsdale High Performance car club has at least 1: S55 AMG with the Renntech ECU flash (kills the limiter) that is shown on video easily hitting 175MPH. Do a search on this forum and you will eventually link to the video.
One of the members of this forum from Europe posted some videos awhile back that showed unlimited S500's top speed at 172 and S55/S600/S600 pushing 200 MPH.
I have a neighbor with a Bently GT that swears he has had his to 197 on the turnpike between here and Orlando and had a S600 stay right with him all the way so I think the 200MPH figure is possible wth the right tires and tuning.
These big cars have a fantastic drag coeficient and with 400+ rear wheel horsepower with 2.65:1 gearing 200 looks possible on paper...just keep both hands on the wheel and make sure your tires are perfect before you try it!!!

Sprink so all 430, 500, 600 without any AMG package are only limited to 130mph? Am I understanding this right? I don't want to seem like an idiot guys I just don't want to make a mistake race a corvette only to find out after 130mph in my 500hp car I am smoked. If I bought a 600 limited to 130 is there anyway to change the it to 155 easily (after I add AMG wheels/tires of course).

magmarot430, I can't remember what the top speed is on the S600, but I'll tell ya what...
Get the RENNtech chip for that car asap. I believe it removes the limiter upto 186mph and vividly ramps up torque output. It's a night and day difference on the car.
You can email neal@euroteckmotorsports.com as they carry the full line of RENNtech products.

US models of the S430 and 500 are limited at 130. The S600 is supposed to be limited at 155 but some are known to be at 130 especially the pre 03 models. Use your tire rating to determine where your car falls. Many people will change out the wheels and tires as soon as they buy the car so don’t look at the tire itself but the label on the driver side door that has all the recommended tire sizes. If the label show H rated tire then your car is limited at 130. If V rated then upto 149 and if Z rated can go above 149. The Z rating may also have another letter next to it so if you have a Z W then your car can go upto around 168 and if it shows Z Y then upto 186. Remember it’s not the tire telling your car where to stop but your ECU. The tire rating is based on what you ECU can get you to. If you consider RENNTECH ECU upgrades, you will increase your limit and it’s a good idea to upgrade your brakes with Brembo big brake kits as well. You can also go all out with a KLEEMANN’s blower which increases you HP to around 500 ponnies and it’s very costly. Use this site to see what other cars are limited at. BMW 750 is at 148 while S550 is at 133.
