Steering Column Problem

My steering column stopped moving up when I turn the ignition off. It also wont move up with the button. It moves in all other directions accept up. Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be a servo or fuse problem? I hope I dont need a new steering column.

sounds like a servo...
a fuse would protect the whole mechanism (i.e. 4-way movement).

try to see if the knob that u use to adjust the wheel, the tip twist forward and back to stop or allow it to move when u put in or take out the key, try that it might work

I went to a local repair shop & he said he would run a code check to see if he could find the problem for $120.00. Does this seem right?

i am telling you its the motor...i have done many for this problem...you have to remove the steering column assembly to replace it (properly). If you want to pay someone to scan your car they will find nothing and will not be able to diagnose the problem correctly anyway unless their scan tool can communicate with the steering column module...which most aftermarket scanners cannot. Buy the motor take it to them and say "install this" .

I took my car to local parts/service place. The mechanic did something to the knob & it now works. It took less than 10 seconds & for free.
