2001 S500 Woes..Help!

Suspension collapsed six days after I bought it. Fixed that. Several codes pulled by my mechanic. Eliminating them one at a time. Replaced with a new ignition switch and shifting module. Now code B1016 indicating an interruption of circuit 50 remains. Even with the new parts.
In other words my mechanic feels the new ignition switch he just installed may be bad. He has ordered a new one.
I plan to stick it out with this S beast. It's a beautiful car. However these "ghosts in the machine" really p#@%^s me off.
Anyone have a similar experience?
Thanks in advance.

Using a generic scanner on a w220 is not the way to go. It will not be able to scan the other modules in the car. It can scan all smog related stuff. Why did he replace the EIS (ignition switch). Did he do it correctly? There is NO WAY POSSIBLE to replace a EIS without having a factory star diagnose system as you have to copy all the data over from the old EIS to new WIS and use the GREEN KEY to unlock the transport lock on it.
