Quality Paint Job!
Hi Everyone,
First post in the S Forum. I was a previous E Class owner until my '05 E320 was totaled by a 17 year old who ran a red light. I bought a Lexus IS350 but it just didn't do it for me, so I recently purchased a 2002 S430, Brilliant Silver with AMG Sport Package. Best part...only 20k miles on this lease returned car. Amazing car and amazing condition so far.
So today, in Sacramento, we had a nice warm fall day and I finally got around to waxing this thing after owning it for a month. I must say that the quality of the paint job on this car BY FAR exceeds the paint job on any other car I've owned, and I've owned the E, the Lexus, a BMW 528i, an Acura and a few others.
I'm amazed at how the Brilliant Silver jumped out at me following a simple wax job with a decent, not great quality, wax. It's like a mirror or a pane of glass, and bright, sparkling color and metallic coming through.
Wonder if others have had the same observation?
Regards,
Jazzphile

The paint job on my parents '01 S500 (bought summer '01) was very good in the beginning.
5 years later...some of the clearcoat is coming off around the bumper edges (where it meets the rear quarter panel) and there two small bubbles forming beneath the paint. One in the rear left quarter panel and the other in the front right door near the bottom
They sure don't paint them like they use to, my previous, '94 C220 formed some bubbles on the door trim around 2003, 9 years later.
Still, it shines whenever I wash and detail it, minus those small irritations.

hey those "bubbles" are signs of rust and if you go to the dealership there will change your doors and and repaint your car for free. im not sure about the door change but i know about that paint for sure. also if u have any more question feel free to pm me or look for a thread called "W220 RUST CAMPAIGN RECALL" i think thats what i called it when i started it.
