2001 S500 or 03 E500

Bentley Cont GT, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG, S63,Ferrari 599, Ferrari 458
2001 S500 or 03 E500
Looking to step into a MB, either a 2001 S500 or a 2003 E500, both would come with around 50,000 miles on the odo. I'd prefer the S500 and am trying to guage how reliable they will be. I've noticed they have a couple of problems including:
Airmatic: $4-5K
Instrument cluster: $1.5K
Radio (require replacement of GPS unit): $2.5K
CD-Changer: $600
What would be a real world expectation of total cost of ownership per year for an S500 vs. E500? Anything else I should be on the look out for? Also, would an extended warranty (third party) cover the issues above? Any other advise would be helpful, I'm just starting the research process now. Not looking to buy until after winter.
