One might be better off tucking away a few hundred/month in a ING account and using it when problems crop up. At least you're earning 4.5%.
Then again, if you're worried about maintaining a $100k+ MSRP car, then it ain't for you.

I was just looking into one for my 1996 Range Rover from warrant4wheels.
I decided to skip it.

10K for an oil sending unit?? you got ripped!! you could have replaced your motor ( which is probably what it needed ) for less than that.
besides that, oil sending unit do not cause engine damage, running the car out of oil does. Your car had 25K miles on it and it ran low enough on oil to cause engine damage between services means 1 or 2 things. 1. you got a major oil leak that was ignored, and, or 2. whomever serviced your car F%^$ed up. in which case since it was the dealer, I would have certainly had an investigation before I volunteered another 10K to repair my engine.
Cars don't loose 10Quarts of oil in 10K miles.. when they only have 25K miles on them. So I see why it was not covered. Seems fishy to me.
This is not a good example of why people should get extended warranty's this is a good example of dealers and shops being able to tell the typical customer just about anything and they will go for it without even blinking because they just don't know any better.
BTW. High end spark plugs are less than $10 each. do the math.
Sorry to ride your azzz on this, but I am a technician for 20+ years and this is just not acceptable to me.
An oil sending unit is a part that sends the computer your oil pressure. In other words, it is the part that does the physical job of monitoring your oil pressure.
I would call MB USA and go nucleaur on someone and raise hell.
