SHORT WHEEL BASE

There are pics of the vehicle on the Mercedes World Wide web site as well as the web sites of those nations which sell the vehicle, try MB Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore!

I dont think we have any SWB S-classes here. The S comes in 320, 430, 500 and 600 but the body is the same. Honestly i never knew that MB made SWB cars.

Hey,

Mercedes no longer makes SWB models for the US market. Every S-Class for the European market (except the S600) is offered with either a standard short (116.7 in.) or optional long (121.5 in.) wheelbase. But sorry, no pics...

SWB

the SWB is exclusive to Canada now...I ordered an S430 SWB The handling is better, the car is 5 inches shorter (you don't really notice it except in the rear doors)

Sean,

What is the difference in price between the two? I truly never knew MB still gave you a choice.

I am supposed to get my car in 5 weeks. When I do I will post a pic. The price difference was $7,000.00 between the short wheelbase and the long wheelbase. The problem for me was that the E class was too small, and the S class was too long. The E Class with the S options was only $3000.00 cheaper than the S430...so I went with the SW S.

I have ordered my 03 S430 for the same reasons. Besides, I think the S in SWB stands for Standard and not necessary for "Short". I ordered my car from the MB Downtown Toronto dealer. My S430 will have the Sport package too. With the increased price for the E500's, S430 is definitely a more appealing choice!

The S430 is really a great choice...and the high torque makes the car fast and powerful....its all you need if your not going on the track!
