fuel trim malfunction

i brought a new battery for my car started right up, you should've seen the smile on my face....anyway i purchased an odbII handheld diagnostic machine and i had two codes for the fuel trim malfunction. what in the world is that?
now my car seems as though it doesnt want to start any ideas?

Would you elaborate on it seems though as it doesn't want to start?

I had the that code and its most likely (though not entirely) a problem with the MAF sensor. How many miles do you have?

when i drive the car the check engine light pops up thats when i put on the odb handheld and it stated fuel trim malfuntion 1st and 2nd baank.well it doesnt want to start i had it towed and as soon as the towtruck dropped my car off the thing started. i put fuel injection cleaner in it and it started up today so im wondering if its the feul filters.
