Latest NAV disc?

Those are really hard to come by. You need a firmware update to be able to use the new discs, unless you already have done that. You can also post a wanted on the classified section.

00-03 S class are CD based nav system. 04-06 are DVD based. CD based system requires different CD's based on region. DVD based system uses one DVD for US and Canada. The newer CD's (04 and later versions) cover the entire US on one disc so if you are driving from one end to the other you can use the same CD until you reach your desired city of which you will need to change the CD to the region in order to get detailed map options. I'm glad MB started loading the entire US on one CD. It helps a lot.

This thread has confused two issues. 2004 and later S-classes used DVD nav; earlier ones use CD. But some 2000 models used different CDs than the later ones. This only affects 2000 owners. This thread describes that issue:

I don't know of a firmware upgrade that converts an early (version C) CD COMAND to version D, but there certainly could be. But this wouldn't be needed for a 2002 car, which uses version D CDs.

I got the nov 05 disk. I have a 01 E430, I bought the disk from another member here. They only sell the whole set of 10 disks at the dealer. So if one buys the set, we can split it up. If there is a 06 or 07 version sign me up for the california disk.
