I cannot find them at Tirerack.com, and they have shot up to $344 a tire thru Discount Tire here in town. I managed to grab a set of 245mm for the fronts off eBay, new for $300. Wooooohoooo!

I grabbed some new 18 AMGs and cannot wait, of course, to bolt them on.

Here are two better tire choices for much "less" cash.

NITTO 555 extreme (currently on my sled)
http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent555

Recognized in both the US and European markets, RENNtech is the expert on high performance Mercedes-Benz street machines. RENNtech is known to produce automobiles without compromise. At 575hp and 602lb ft of torque, the RENNtech modified and customized Mercedes Benz SL55 demands an ultra-high performance tire to realize its full potential.

In this regard, RENNtech uses only Nitto NT555s to provide the necessary grip and overall performance of the SL55. Nitto’s NT555’s features one of the biggest contact patches available in the high performance tire market. These tires perform well on dry and wet driving surface conditions. The high tread block rigidity and grip rubber compound combines to provide superior traction, stable contact and reliable handling for total vehicle control in whatever speed and road condition.

I also highly recommend

Still can't get 275/45/18s for some reason. I have been in love with the S03 since having them on my M5 and 540 before that. I am not sure why they are hard to source right now. Considering they are are Bridgestone's highest performance tire, why not make a few?

Hey WDM-
My fronts came from eBay spanking new for $300, a frigging joke of a price! There are some 19s on there as well.

I think I'll try the Toyo T1-R's in a 19. I'm tempted to just get some 20's they are a lot easier to find, and better prices across the board.
