Keyless Go

Can anybody tell me what happens if you walk away from a keyless go with the engine on and the key in your pocket? Im curious, but I dont want to do anything that might screw up the car.

If you leave the car, engine running, and having the KG-Card in your pocket, the car remains running (and someone can drive away). I don't know if it keeps running until the gas tank is empty?????? because nobody can switch it off w/o the KG-card or a key.

I know mine will run untill I push the on/start button...that turns it off.

It should turn off at the first stop after 10 minutes

According to the manual for my '03 SL55, the keyless go would turn off at the first full stop after 10 minutes out of range, or something like that. I never tested it. It makes sense, though, as a way to blend safety and convenience. You don't want the car turning off immediately if you run back into the house because you forgot the grocery list or something. And it's a way for you to get safely out of a car-jacking situation without giving the thief completely free control over your car.

But again, this is based on recollection of the manual for a car I sold 2 years ago.

I tested it, after i drive away from the key, it popped up red screen with a fast tone like u don't wear your seat belt and then turned off. And then i tested with not-running away....the car sit like a dog waits for the bone...it stayed on.....
