Sirius Installation 2004 S500

I'm new to the game here, so forgive me if I'm asking a questuion that I'm unable to find the answer for on this forum site. I just purchased a 04' S500, and I was told that the car is "prewired for Sirius" radio. It does have a SAT button on the Command system, and I really want to be able to use the existing system for the transmission of the satellite radio.
#1 - How can I tell if it has a tuner in the car? I assumed it doesn't since it says "Satellite Radio not Found", or even suggest a ID# for one. Where is the unti pysically located?
#2 - If it doesn't have the tuner, where can I purchase one other than a MB dealership? Or is that my only option?
#3 - Does it need a separate antenna, or can it receive the signal from the exisiting roof mounted antenna? assuming it can because it said in the owners manual that the radio was "prewired", and I'm guessing that means the antenna is intergrated as well.
Tks

Welcome to the forum. Got any pics? You receiver will be in the trunk (if you have one). See this post from a similar thread.

Q:2
MB would be the place to get one. You can find other receivers elsewhere but MB is your best bet (not cheap.)

Q:3
The roof antenna is for command navigation and TEL and not SAT radio. The MB SAT antenna is normally mounted ontop of the trunk. Good luck

Tks so much for the quick response. I will check tonight if the unit exists in my car, but I fear not. Have a feeling that the MB Dealership will have heafty price for it to be installed. Not interested in putting another "screen" in the car, want to use the functionality already there. Not to mention, it is cool looking.
While I have you, the car has a built in phone system that uses the Command voice system. Can I use my current cell phone with that system (Bluetooth) by purchasing an adaptor?

You can purchase a bluetooth cradle that replaces the one you have now. Do a search on this board and you'll find a whealth of info on this.

The Bluetooth puck can be found here: http://www.wireless4mb.com/

Make sure you check the list of phones it supports. You will probably need to get a software upgrade for your phone, or maybe even a new one.

If you press the SAT button and nothing happens, you don't have the Sirius tuner. Yes, the dealer can install one and yes, it's not cheap. But it will be fully integrated with COMAND and your multi-function cluster display.

Welcome and you are right...it is awesome. You are very lucky to have the phone system from the factory along with voice actuation. I am in the process of duplicating what you have and at the end of the day will spend $1200~$1500 to get what you already have!!

I would suggest you make sure you understand how they install the antenna for your sat radio. If I remember correct, a few people didn't know how it was done and where upset when they found out that they drill a hole in the top of the trunk.
