I put the same tires as replacements on my 2003 S430. There is no 265/40/18 so I too used the one size up. I can tell you that I was not pleased with them. I don't know if it was that particular car, which tracked on center beautifully, but they did not last long. 12,000 miles on the rears and they were shot. One Sunday evening in April, 2005 the right front completely degradged on north I 15 about thirty-five miles from Las Vegas. That event was a little scary. Middle aged couple with disabled high line car in complete darkness on the way to Vegas. I thought if anyone stopped to rob us they get the jewelry, thousands of dollars in cash, change the tire, get the car and blow us away into the ditch. Needless to say I changed the tire very quickly.

The tires I have on my '06 are Michelin Pilot Sports with the "v" pattern. They are wearing a lot better than the A/S tires.

I've put about 400 miles on the Bridgestone 960's and I like them a lot. They are extremely quite an the car rides much nicer with them. It's amazing the difference a good set of tires makes.

I haven't driven in very wet weather yet but expect them to be pretty good. They were very highly-rated on www.tirerack.com.

I just installed a set of bridgestone re050 Rft 245 40 19 ans 275 35 19 and all I can say is DAMN!!!! these things are quiet on the road..the seem a bit wider than comparable tires of the same size. I wonder why that is.. I had to raise my car 1/4 to keep from rubbing in the rear..HMMM still loos dropped though. Runflats are kinda stiff. We'll see how long they last. So far I like them.

Anyone having TPMS issues with Runflats?

2003 S500 - Toyota Corolla (in the rain)
Tried Them All

I have three Benzes. On my 1988 560SEC I have the Michelin Pilot Sports 18", don't like them at all. On my 2004 SL500 I have the Yokohoma's.............don't cut it. On my 2003 S500 I have tried the Avon M550 - they were excellent for about 5k miles and after that they got real noisy. Also tried the Continental Extreme Contact and they were great up until around 7k miles. So I'm going to try something different. I just don't like Michelin Pilot and will never buy them again. They get very noisy after about 7k miles and I thought it was something wrong with the car. Took it in to the dealer and he said nothing with the car, it is your tires. Going to try the Potenzas next.

Ok guys,

I put the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

245/45/18 Front
275/40/18 Rear

On the car a few weeks ago just before StarTec 2007.

The Good :

When I had them installed they needed very, very little weight to balance them. They fit on the car with no problems. My initial report on the ride is they are very quiet smooth riding tire. The grip is a great.... I don't know if I can attribute it to the extra 20mm tread on the ground or the tire itself.

The Bad:

The jury is still out on the turns / cornering. What I mean is, the sidewall seems a bit weaker then the Michelins. The car seems to roll a bit on them. I don't know if I need more pressure in the tires or if they are just weaker. I put in the recommended tire pressure listed on the gas cap door. I have put very few miles on them so I don't want to pre-judge, but I wanted to report in.

I have not driven the car in the rain and I'll have to wait until winter to see how they handle in snow / ice conditions.

2002 S600
Can we get an update on the Bridgestone Pontenza tires. I also looking to replace my rear tires (275/40/18) on the S600 with Sport package. Any input on some good tires would be greatly appreciated. My OEM Pilot A/S has gotten about 29,000 miles on them. I don't want to spend the $330 per, if not required.

The S600 is my third driver so I don't have many miles on these tires.

I have been able to drive in wet weather.... not heavy rain, but wet drizzle. The tires felt very controled and smooth. I was actually thinking about the tires during the drive.

I still feel that the sidewall is a bit weak and not as stiff as I experienced in the Michelins. I bought this tire as an AS tire. I'm very happy with them. Though, if I wanted to switch wheels for diff seasons, I'd put on the Michelin PS2s on in the summer.

I just paid $225CAD per tire when I could have paid $150CAD for the original tires from tire rack
I didn't know about this site before I read this post

Continental; well known brand in europe. Great when wet roads, last very long.
Negative is the noise (in my opinion)
I myself always favored michelin because they are quiet and comfortable, but they were on it when buying.
Same with the VW Golf. Noisy continentals also. Already for 84000 kilometers
Had Avon on the BMW but continentals there also after the Avon wore out (to quick)
Funny how I ended up with a brand that I do not favor on my 3 cars, but still am quite happy with it.
