Door stopper on my w220 is lose

Hello. Just recently the door latch stopper thing that keeps the door from opening to far has become lose and makes an awfull noise. Does any one here know how to access it so I can tighten it up? I looked under the dash and it doesn't seem humanly possible to get to it. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Oh yea it is a 2000 S500

It's called a door check. Is it the little rectangular piece and makes a clicking/crunching noise when you open the door?

Mine was doing it for years and eventually I just sick of hearing it pop. I tried everything to find where to tighten it but gave up and took it to the dealer. They replaced it for 300.

The part to be replaced is in the door panel, not under the dashboard.

I'm pretty sure it is the part connected to the car not the door. I can see the part move everytime I open the door. I also just noticed I mispelled "LOOSE" in the head line. Now I feel like a dumbass.
