04-05 745i or s430?
I am looking into getting one of these cars in the near future, most like a certified one and I was wondering which of these two you guys would prefer. And which one would probably be more reliable, given that they are both perfectly maintained? I need this car to last me a long time since I keep my cars for around 10 years. Also, are there any specific model years or trims I should stay away from? Thanks.

Go with the 745. I'd rather deal with the dreaded i-drive over reliability issues with MB.
I've heard the 7's are pretty bad too though, so who knows.

I would take the BMW over the MB, its a crap-shoot over which one is more reliable but the BMW is a much more exciting car to drive IMO and much more modern looking.

BMW is about to make some changes to the 7 series and if you are in the market for one I would recoment you wait until the new one comes out then get the 750 for a fraction of what you'll pay now. Same thing happened to the W220 when the W221 came out. Be patient and you would end up a winner and especially if you'll finance that car. Just a thought.

thanks for the advice so far guys. I kinda wanted the S-class because of its look but I may have to go for the 7-series since I need the car to be reliable. I may be able to stretch for the s500 and 750li so do you guys still recommend the bmw? thanks

if you go for the 7 series don't touch any 03-04 those 2 years are most problemetic
one thing about the 7 series though, they are not as eye pleasing as the Sclass that's for sure.
