People have, but it requires replacement of the HU. No aftermarket unit integrates with your existing equipment. There are many posts by people who have replaced the entire thing, so search if you're interested. However, if you want eveything to function as OE, you'll have to replace the CDC with the proper MB unit.
By the way - I believe Alpine makes your OE unit.

No. Your unit is manufactured for MB with a fiber optic setup. I don't know of an aftermarket Alpine that uses fiber optics, or that would be compatible. You will have to replace the malfunctioning unit with the same thing.
By the way - one source of static noise is fiber optic cables that are bent at too tight a radius; it is possible that the static is always present, but being masked by your music. Check your fiber optics (orange cables). See the phone bulletin for your car (which has illustrations/installation instructions for the CD Changer as well) on Paul H. Dick's site at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm. It also gives you the part number for a replacement unit.
Some contributors have listed alternate sources for the unit - they are expensive. You'll have to do a search of the forum, I don't have them bookmarked.
