Water Leaks...
Has anyone had problems with water apparently seeping through the "seals" of the moon/sun roof?
My 01 500 leaked water from the rear passenger side vanity mirror.
My 02 600 leaks water from the driver side light above the vanity mirror and rear vanity mirrors. Sometimes the water diverts into the left front dome light as well.
This really ticks me off as you spend 100k+ on a car and if anything, it should not have leaks. After a rain, pull down a mirror and water is all over your lap, very embarrassing.
For those who will ask, yes, I have tried it with closing the roof from the complete open position as at first I thought perhaps closing from the "Vent" position did not acquire a proper seal. The dealership says they can replace the outer seal but I have been told they would never be able to get it right.
Comments?
btw... here are pics of the 600 and 500

unfortunatly no matter what you paid for your mercedes, the sun roof drains get debris in them ,,or spiders like to make nest in then ,which clog them up which require compressed air to un clog ,not a fault of vehicle ,,,,natural occurences

I've owned my 2001 S600 for over two years now and have never had any leak problems whatsoever. Nor, have I heard of any problems like this on message boards. You need to demand that the dealer fix it properly....as it is under warranty.

natural occurence?
on my dads 96 ls, no leaks from the moonroof or anywhere
on my 93 camry, no leaks either
i dont think that this is a natural occurence, and i live in vancouver, which seems to get a lot of rain

if you drive with roof open alot ,you will get debris inside runs and seals ,,and down drain hoses,it will build up just like plaque on you teeth, spiders crawl up inside drain hoses and lay eggs, make nests, clog hoses ,it is part of our normal maintence to unclog these hoses.
your dealer must do this too,
has nothing to do with age of vehicle
and i am speaking of mercedes only,,i have no experience with other makes

Thanks for the feedback.
Where is this drain located? Is it reachable for us commoners or does a service guy have his tricks to reach it. If I can get to it, wondering if I can get a can of compressed air with an extension and blow all those nasty little critters out.
As far as clean, the car is hand washed twice a week and in the shop for interior and exterior detail once a month. I do park outside a lot while in the country. But you know, if I recall, seems the 600 leaked from the get go.
Thanks again.

FIRST THING I WOULD TRY IS A SMALL SCREWDRIVER UP IN THE END,,NEXT TO LIFT POINTS UNDER CAR ,DO YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE ?
IF THAT DOES NOT HELP,THE DRAIN HOLES ARE IN THE EXTREEM CORNERS OF SUNROOF ,JUST BLOW THEM OUT WITH AN EXTENSION
sorry for the caps

Thanks..
I just went and took a look. The holes are clear however I will go by Staples tomorrow and get some compressed air and blow them out. I presume since the holes are clogged, at least the left side, the area fills up with water and runs into the head liner. Gee, not to complain but this should be sealed.
I know, I will get a tube of caulk and seal it myself! From the outside with the roof closed! That will work, yes? Wonder if they make hott pink!
lol.. just kidding..

you got my attention ,,,,thought you were serious
you may need more pressure that a can of compressed air
you may need to stop by a service station or your local dealer to have them provide more pressure
