That sounds like an airmatic pump failure.

I had similar problem (cranking noise on the passenger side) while driving or get in and out of the car or during car raising up and down. I first thought it is the airmatic or strut was bad. My local MB shop checked and replaced the ball joint. The problem was fixed. It cost me $350 including part+labor.

i went to G&A auto import in east long meadow, thanks, dealership originally quoted me $600 for repairs, i went to G&a and they said it was just a ball joint repairs are $270 parts and labor!!!which is a $330 dollar savings over dealer, and it was just a ball joint, not ten things like stealership says

Try disconnecting the battery and after re-connection, reset the windows. You will have ABS, BAS messages on your display. Clear this by turning the steering to each extreme ends. If your electric problems are still there, you might have a bad SAM.

Is this ball joint is the same thing like cv joint? or that's different thing?
