Question Speakers in a S430

Can subwoofers and amp be installed in a S430 without changing the factory radio/nav system? I went to a place to have my speaker system installed and they told me that I could not install a system unless I send the radio unit out to have some work done to it because if I were to install a system with the factory radio the bass would increase like crazy everytime I would push the gas and the bass will practically disappear when i would press brakes!
Does this sound right? Can anyone guide me in the right direction when It comes to installing a subwoofer system in a 2001 S430?

Not too sure about the gas or brake pedeal affecting the bass or an electrical components. I believe they need to get to the radio unit to make some adjustments to install a better powerful system.

I meant he stated when you accelerate the bass will increase and when you press brakes the bass decreases drastically. It's like a sensor or something on the radio.
I had a Jaguar and each time I would slow down the radio would decrease it's volume and when I would accelerate it would return to the same level I had it on.

I think this can be adjusted so that the volume will not change with speed.
