s500 AMG...pics...whose car is this?

Yeah, thats kind of scary -- not the fake AMG badge -- the fact that anybody can just post something a pic like that. That license plate is part of somebody's identity. Hopefully they will remove that pic...

Not quite. This license plate, and all other license plates you see when you leave your home are in the public domain. I would imagine that more people see the license plate (and the vehicle) in the street than on this board.
Not sure about posting the owner's name though, unless it is part of public records.

Yeah, I guess that's true, but I think that person should be the one to decide if he wants his plate exposed to the world...vs being seen in person only in Calif area. Twenty yrs ago it wouldnt be an issue, but the world we live in now -- totally different -- have to be careful.

While plates are infact exposed to the general public, their purpose is not intended for a specific purpose and NOT for mass exposure AND That exposure does not give another person the right to post or advertise their plate number IN public.
So yes I think that violates a persons right to privacy especially since they have no idea what you've done.
Did you not know that you can easily find out a person's name And address by the plate on their car just by phoning the DMV and saying the right thing?
Also Anyone with 10 minutes or so of free time on their hands can tell you who this car belongs to, their age, where they live, and possibly more info for just $19.99.
Home addresses are also in the public domain. But they are also treated as someones private address and it is therefore illegal to advertise someone's home address without their knowledge or permission.
If you disagree, Put a celebrity's home address on the web with your name attached to it and see what happens..
