Which version Command
Hi there,
A friend of mine just got a 2003 S500. It has Command but he has no manuals and no CD's.
Can anyone tell me what version Command would be in this year S500? And, is eBay the best place to obtain the CD's?
Thanks!

He likely has a wide screen COMAND for the D2B fiber optics bus (sometimes referred to as COMAND MOPF*). He can get a manual for it from Paul H. Dick's great website - http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/index.htm - with the COMAND manuals at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm. There is also a Voice Control manual available on the site, and all kinds of other great information.
*Thanks, whoover -I forget about that weird MOPF designation sometimes.
The COMAND MOPF was only used in the '03 S- and CL Classes. It uses the same nav CDs as the '01 and '02 COMAND 2.5 units.
He may or may not be able to download an owner's manual and a service manual from the MBUSA website (www.mbusa.com) after registering as an owner. While the site says it doesn't provide manuals older than the '04 model year, some have been able to download the older manuals. If unable, there is a contact point shown for ordering printed ones. The best place to obtain the CD set is from the dealer, about $275. The latest release for your car is B Q 6 46 0222, dated 01/07. You can try ebay - but you pays your money and you takes your chances there. Occasionally a forum contributor will buy a set and sell unneeded individual discs, but in North American they are normally sold only as a set covering the U.S. and Canada.
