The dealership lowered my S500 for free!!!

I complained a few weeks back that my s500 ride height was offly high while my car was getting the new instrument panel installed. One of their techs came and talked to me and i explained that the wheel gap in the front seemed very excessive. He told me he would put it on the machine to see if anything wrong. He came back and said the computer said everything was normal, but that if it was still high next week to let them know.

So when it went in to service again last week, i mentioned it again, that it was really high. So i picked it up today, and they lowered it for me! The front was lowered from a 4 finger gap in the front wheel well, to a 2 finger gap! So much better!

you're very lucky. anytime I ask my certified MB dealer for anything - I get nothing. It's like I'm talking to a door stop. Keenan Motors MB is awful

The drop definitely makes a difference. Those clear SIGNAL BUMPER LIGHTS look great on your car. After almost 4 years of owning my S430, my wife is finally letting me do some modifications. I lowered it and I'm going to order my clear signal bumber lights as soon as I post this reply to your tread. I'm also thinking about changing the tail lights to the CHROME TAIL LIGHT covers, but I'm not sure how it would look, what do you think?

That's so funny this just happened to me last week when I told my service adviser about how high my E55 was. When I pick it up, he told me that they adjusted the ride hight. Now I'm very happy with the way the car sit's on low mode.

hmm..chrome tail light covers? i dont know about that one. might be too much. i was just looking at your thread, the drop looks great. so did u use that washer method? the clear bumper lights make a huge difference in my opinion. that was the first thing i did

Yeah after looking at it for about 5 minutes and visualizing how it would look, I came to the conclusion it would probably look to ghetto, lol. My first crack at lowering it was washer method (4 washers) but it wasn't low enough for me. I couldn't put an more than 4 washers because there wouldn have been very little bolt left to screw the nut on. So I ordered the front sensor height adjustment arms from adjustable airride. The washer method was quick, easy and cheap, but I couldn't get the profile I wanted. The sensor arms cost me about $120, where as the washers were about a 80 cents, but it let me get the drop I wanted because I could adjust them to the hieght I wanted. Don't get me wrong if I would have had more bolt left and could have got more washers on I would have saved the $120. Plus it's easier to adjust the hieght, all I have to do is get enough clearance between the wheel and the fender, pop the top part of the sensor arm off and adjust it to the height I want, it takes about four or five minutes for each side.

Thanks. The guy's name at adjustable air ride is John Vranic. He got me my sensor arms the next day. He's in Canada, which is about 3 hours behind me here in Florida. He eeems pretty good, so I'm sure he'll get back with you very soon. Hey, your car looks in great condition to be a 2000, you definitely took very good care of it. Hey are you located outside the United States?

Chipley, that's kind of like suggesting all Florida has is tourists. Everyone knows we have hurricanes, too.

Of course, one of my oldest friends is from Live Oak, about 150 miles east of Chipley. He says after 6 PM they roll up the sidewalks, and just call it Oak.

For those of you who don't know where Chipley, Florida is - just head 60 miles southeast from Opp, Alabama.

Skylaw, It sounds like you have kicked a few cow turds in my neck of the woods. Are you from Opp? I have never been that far north of Dothan. Cowboy's was on the south side and I hear Alabama Troopers are just lookin' for us Florida boys trying to find our way back to the state line. Anyway, I left Chipley in 1988 after 20 wonderful years and many cases of beer in the Winn Dixie parking lot. I have been in Palm Beach Gardens since.

Actually, I haven't - mainly just driving past on I-10. I'm from Jacksonville, but spent most of the past 40 years elsewhere. Returned to Florida for good just last year, and I'm glad to be back. Places like Puerto Rico, northern Maine, North Dakota, Colorado, Louisiana, all over Asia, and Washington DC have their charms, but nothing beats Florida.

However, I have been through Opp. You have to be careful not to blink when passing through. The one person I knew from Opp used to say it was named by someone who couldn't spell "poop."

Whynot? - no, I was never on the Boxster boards. Wouldn't be surprised if some other pilot/lawyer used the same screen name.

LOL, I could barely drive for a few hours when I was there. All that corn makes me drowsy. I don't think I'm going to eat corn for a loooooong time now.

Well, yes, I did. Flew B-52s for the bulk of 20 years, also had a tour as a Forward Air Controller flying 0-2As. 5 trips to Viet Nam, fortunately 4 of them short tours (6 months), one long. And they even PAID me to fly!! (but occasionally folks would shoot at me - sometimes, a lot). Briefly on loan to Security Police, spent much of that in the Philippines (a delightful tour, but hard work). Got to visit other neat places, living in some for a short while - Thailand, Japan, Korea, Guam, Taiwan, England, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, France - and found things to like about each one.

Retired from the USAF, went to law school, private practice for a time, and back to work in government (when my wife was assigned to DC) - once again defending against potshots, but of a different sort. My wife was in the Pentagon on 9/11 - her offices were at the end of the section of the third (innermost) ring that was destroyed. She made it out OK. Some of her friends didn't. She retired from the USAF 2 years ago, but is involved today as a defense contractor directly supporting the war effort.

And you are most welcome.

Even if I have taken us

The wheels do not rub. The ride quality is exactly the same. I have the comfort setting on, but i can switch it to the sport 1 or 2 as well. It drives exactly the same as before, but it looks a lot better. Even my wife said so. She had always just thought it was normal to have that much gap between the rims and fender. But when i came home with it lowered, she said "wow, that does make a huge difference"
