Question on wheels for s500.....EXPERTS???

Basically I want a meaty lookin rear tire. I was thinkin about going with a 20"x8.5" for the front and a 20"x9.5" for the rear. I had considered going to a 10" rear. Anyone have any experience with this? I would rather go this route if possible. I have heard something about going with too much stagger that it could cause problems. Also what kind of offset can I get away with on either of these rears? I would like them to stick out without causing problems hitting my fender. Also what would be optimum tire use for this set-up? Thanks for the help!

You may get some good opinions in reply on this section of the forum, but one of the most authoritative would be Luke at The Tire Rack. Check out the section on the topic, right here on MBWorld - contact information is there.

Welcome to the forum - you'll find a wealth of information here, especially if you browse it a bit.

I'm sure u probably read my thread above. If I were 2 buy a new set of wheels again I would get 20 x 9.5 in the rear. But the problem with that is ur going to have a hard time finding 20 x 9.5 trust me and 20 x 9.5 that look good! I know of a nice wheel that has it if u want. Do not do not get wheels if they need spacers! So the highest offset u can possibly go without using spacers is what I have 40 in the rear. I rub a few times a week because my tires grazes the fender a bit 275/30/20 in the rear. Or u can do what benzondubz did and cut the problem area out which what I want 2 do when I have time.

20" on an S500

I'm running 20x9.5 on the rear with a 275/35 tire. I only get a slight rub (and only on the right rear) when going over a depression on the freeway at speed. Otherwise everything is fine. Actually, the recommended rear size is 275/30, so with that tire you should not get much rubbing at all, if any.
I run on the softest suspension setting. If I set the suspension on level two or three, the rubbing goes away as the suspension does not let the car dip as much.
I've got a set of Brabus Monoblock VI Replicas for sale if interested. They are an all black chrome finish that would look great on a white or silver or grey 220.
