2003 S430 4matic
Rattle noise question

I have an 03' S430 4Matic. Resently i noticed a rattleing noise coming from under the car. Seems like it could be the exhaust. This only happens once the engine is warmed up. My first thought is that it could be the catalytic converter but i'm interested to know if anyone has had a similar problem. The noise is not like metal against metal but more muffled sounding. Its not audable at idle, only when you give it some gas and is louder the higher the rpms. Gear selection make no difference.

Also has anyone had a stock wheel crack. I found my front right wheel crached on the inside edge, after it kept loosing air pressure. The dealer would not replace it saying i must have driven too fast over a huge pott hole. I had owned the car for only a month and a half at the time and had been driving it gingerly to say the least. Neadless to say i was a little bit pissed off at the service manager, but he would not budge so it came out of my pocket.

Thanks in advance...

Hopefully you didn't buy the wheel at the dealer and overpaid 4 it. As for the noise go under the car and tap or hit the catalyctic converter and listen 4 busted pieces of metal ie converter. If no noise, You should look 4 a local shop that specializes in Mbenz. U don't have to run 2 the dealership everytime. Ur talking about big savings.

I'll try that thanks. The wheel was welded as a temp fix because i'm still looking for some nice rims for it to replace the stock ones.

Just take it to a shop in the hood and take out the catalyctic converter and run straight pipes like if it were a mustang

I know I was just joking. Besides I'm sure there's probably a sensor that would get set off if you run straight pipes with no converter.
P.s. Lots of things are illegal including mods to your MB like tint, certain xenon lights etc.

If you get tint and its barely noticeable , in my opinion you wasted your money. Most states have like a 50% law, mines have 15% (lower the number, the darker).
