If someone can help either here or in a PM.

My business partner in Brazil which I visit at least 6 times a year needs me to bring him a part for his 2001 S500. He is looking for a front left, shock absorber, his car has the ABC (Active Bondy Control) but does NOT have the Airmatic suspension.

I have called various MB aftermarket distributors but none carry this item, it seems the factory does not have this item open to the public.

I called the local MB dealers, they will not sell me any parts without a VIN# that corresponds to the parts.

So I looked into Ebay to find similar cars, but all cars that I have seen have both ABC and Airmatic suspension.

If someone has a 2001 S500 that has ABC but NO Airmatic could you share your VIN with me so I could get the right part for my buddy.

Or if someone can help me find this specific shock absorber I would appreciate it. I am heading down in about a week and half.

I do not believe there is a W220 S-Class made that does not have Airmatic. They all have it. Not all of them have ABC. Those that do have Airmatic and ABC.

And the front struts are normally replaced in pairs. Sorry, I do not have part numbers. However, you can try http://www.thebenzbin.com/ or http://catalog.mercedesshop.com/ (the latter was out of stock now, but you could check).

No car has ABC and Airmatic. It's one or the other. Airmatic is the normal S-class suspension, except on AMG models. Any S55 or S65 has ABC. But I wouldn't swear that the parts on a non-AMG with the ABC option are exactly the same as the parts on an S55. I really think it's gambling to order any ABC part without the VIN because there was so much tuning of the system across different models over the life of the W220. But if you want to chance it, just get the VIN of a 2001 S55 from www.mbusa.com (CPO section) or Autotrader.com. Again, all S55s have ABC and ABC replaces Airmatic.
