2000 s500 for 20k offer
Someone has offered me a 2000 S500 for 20k. It seems like a great deal that I shouldn't pass up as I loved the old body style, have driven it before, and love the driving.
However...what should I be aware of? This car has 82k miles on it. What type of costs should I expect to incur in the next few years for maintenance? The interior and exterior is in excellent condition and the Carfax report is clean so I would like to know the normal maintenance costs I should expect and if something were to go south, what to expect.

I don;t know what kBB you were looking at but today's results shows 20K for a good condition S500 which means the market or a good deal would be around 16 to 18K.

Everything on cars.com showing up in my area (NYC) is around 19-20k for 80k miles. I'm going to be able to drop the price to 16k?
And what maintenance costs should I expect?

It is just an S500 - nothing added.
Why does KBB list it at much higher than what people around here say it is worth?
And, what type of maintenance issues should I expect? I like these cars, but I don't want a 3000$ bill in a few months for a problem.

Also its a 3rd party trade.
P.S no one looks at dealervalues now days, usually the 3rd party trade is the MSRP price.
Get Full Warranty, then you dont need to worry about anything.

5k is a lot. I think you can get a CPO for 34k for a 2004, if I recall correctly. Probably better off just as it has less mileage and it holds its value well.
I just am not sure how much maintenance I should expect on this car and I don't want to deal with problems every thousand miles.
Maybe a new one would be best, but 80k is a lot to drop on a car.

try to find one with the rear seat package that would be sick/plus sport package plus steering wood grain package.....next month i am going to a dealer ship and i am going to pay 100 bucks to swap a wood steering wheel off a sport package s500 for my regular leather steering wheel.
