Problem with 01 s500 CD CHANGER
New to this so please forgive me for mistakes.
i recently bought a 01 S 500, and started havign trouble with my CD Changer,
first it would say no magazine, then some times it wouldn't read disks which were already in the magazine. The magazine got stuck in the changer, i took it apart, got a magazine out but now I have no sound, it says that there is no CD Changer in the car, there is no telephone in the car. I read some blogs and came to a conclusion that since the CD Changer is bad my volume is out, but i dont understand why aren't phone and volume working. I would appreciate it, if someone could guide me as to how to get this problem resolved.

Similar Problem CD CHANGER- 01 S500
Hi there - I also just bought an s500 01, and am coming across a problem with teh CD Changer. I hopped in my car and it wouldnt play the disk. So i turned it off and on with no luck. It would just sit on CD1 and track 1 and not play. it would not allow me to change CDs either. it would let me look at the other cd's but when i clicked on another nothing would happen. i switched out cds even removed disc one. still the same problem but with disc 2 not playing. i would push FWD and it would stick like that. eventually i kept pushing buttons and it went all black and and reset playing the music like nothing happened. Can anyone please advise me on this?
Thanks,
nathan

yep, my CD player also occasionally comes up with no disk. its particuarly bad on home burnt CD's. I found that i had to eject the cartridge and put it back in again.
in the end i just hooked up my Ipod

You have to take the thing out and apart and literally FIX it! There's a tutorial floating around here or on benzworld that shows you how. Personally I thought it was just too much work and not worth the effort, plus I use my iPod and don't bother with CD's anyhow

Exit 521:
I'm sorry to hear about you recent misfortunes. It sounds as if your faulty CD Player has broken the continuity of your fiber optics communication loop. Hence all equipment that
requires an unbroken loop is reporting a failure (tel., radio, etc.). Similar problems have
been solved by disconnecting the power to the CD player (via the trunk), and bypassing
it using fiber optic cables. There was a detailed thread explaining this procedure circulating about one year ago. Perhaps Skylaw, could shed more light on this problem and its solution.
A good Non-Dealer shop could resolve the problem in about 15 minutes at a price of approximatedly 50.00
Good Luck

Mine did the same thing, unhook the battery, wait 30 mins then hook back up. If that doesnt work,do it for 2 mins, then disconnect the big plug on the amp and re hook it, check the fuses too...
Mine got wet and i had no sound but after i dried it off and did all that,it works, check the battery voltage..a low battery will mess alot of **** up..i know from experience

The Audio Problems section of the new post at https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...tart-here.html may help you - and it has the repair blog that was "floating around." It also has a possible substitute for the OE unit if you need to replace it.
