2000 S430
2000 S430 leaking AT fluid

Hi All,

I have a 2000 S430 and I removed the plastic shroud that covers the transmission. There was transmission fluid that had leaked on to it. I'm wondering if I should:

1) Buy a dipstick to check the AT fluid and see how much has leaked and fill accordingly.

2) Keep driving and just wait for dummy light to come on and then fix it.

3) Stop driving and take it to a mechanic and have him fix leak. I'm thinking it's the gasket.

Thank you for your input.

Have it looked at. It is not uncommon for a seal to go bad on the electrical plug on the transmission. Simple repair - may need a slight top-off.

No doubt it's a seal. I took the 430 in for A service and the stealer found 2 leaks. 58K on the clock and bad seals. That's mind blowing.

+1

I think MB is on their third generation O ring for the transmission electrical plug. The most current O ring is black.

Is that a complaint?

Your car is almost 7years old..Mileage doesn't matter to rubber that is exposed to the elements...

A new tranny at 3K on a brand new 58K convertible. Now that's mind blowing.. Happened to me but I'm not complaining... Just happy to be here.
