Should I get an S class?

Lately I have been thinking of switching my car for a different one. And here are my thoughts:

I don't really like any new models, other than CLK, which I already have. So, I guess I can switch to a CLK-550 for more power but the same feel.

At the same time, I really like the W220 body style (and seriously think that the current S class us pretty ugly). So I have noticed several used 2002-2004 S500s and S600s around, some with miles as low as 25,000... and they sell for roughly $30-45K... should I get one of those?

I know that it will probably suck gas like a beast, but hey, what the heck.

Any thought on this? Any pros/cons to owning this vehicle? I'll get a CPO, so it will have at least 12month warranty... but how is the ownership after that? Is it going to constatly need repairs, or are they pretty reliable and bulletproof, maintenance wise? I haven't had a vehicle out of warranty for quite some time, so I'm a bit hesitant

Thanks

You might take a look at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...-look-out.html and https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124317; they may not fully answer your question, but they'll get you part way there.

A perfect analogy to your question would be : If I keep sticking nickels into a slot machine will I win the jackpot ?? Every time Ive had trouble with my S500 I say to myself, I should have bought a lexus ( my previous car was a lexus and went without any trouble whatsoever from 200 - 300k km ) But when all is going well the satisfaction from driving a merc is 2nd to none, good luck !!!
